Reading Aloud
euphonia
I frequently read aloud to Jane while she's cooking or driving; it's
a pleasant way to spend time together. As a result, I'm always on the lookout
for good books which read well aloud. If you have any suggestions, please
mail them to me at will@wjduquette.com
What qualities must a book have to read well aloud?
It must be relatively light. Jane is usually doing something
else at the same time, which excludes books requiring a great
deal of concentration.
It must have an appropriate rhythm. Some prose reads perfectly
well silently, but is hard on the tongue when spoken.
Not surprisingly, it must be of interest to both of us.
